The Flowering Cross by Beth Ryan, illustrated by Renne Graef- Book review

This children’s book is about a young girls befriending a mean old neighbour while building on a tradition of adding a flower to a cross at Easter as part of her family’s response to the gospel message. This books message touches nicely on loving our neighbour, sharing the gospel, the meaning of Easter, and the value of meaningful family traditions. It is well written and illustrated.

This book would hit elementary grade children excellently, but would still be of great value to preschoolers also. I think this is a GREAT book for families. As part of its content it has a flower cross project families can do, but even better, this book has what is called Faith Imprints(TM) on each page. What this feature does is give the parents a Scripture verse to read with their family along with a discussion question. MOST EXCELLENT!!!!

Having a resource for parents to use to help them discuss spiritual matters with their families are needed, and I HEARTILY recommend this to families to help them accomplish this purpose. I can see this being used yearly as part of long lasting family Easter traditions. I look forward to using this with my own family!

I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review.
